Serious New Year’s Resolutions!

Updated: May 15

ree

Have you set those New Year Resolutions? I read “Approximately 30 percent of Americans make New Year's resolutions, but fewer than 10 percent are successful at keeping them. Twenty-three percent of people quit their resolution by the end of the first week; 43 percent quit by the end of January.” So let’s get serious about our business goals because without them we cannot achieve greater things.

Don’t kid yourself. When you have thoughts about your future, they are only a fantasy until you write them down. Putting them on paper brings your ideas into the real world and that’s where the fun begins. Once written you can develop, shape and mold them into an action plan. Nothing new here, just common sense that works.

Happy New Year! Ready or not, January 2025 is upon us and we can either let it happen or make it happen. I’ve heard said there are three types of people; 1) Those who watch things happen, 2) those who make things happen and 3) those who say “What just happened”? This article is for the one who “Makes It Happen”.

You can’t steer a parked car, so go; First, review the past year for the sole purpose of accessing mistakes and learning from them. Don’t get caught up in the “Woulda, Shoulda Coulda”, just take a quick look, learn and move on. Second, review your success. Gain strength and build foundations with the things you did right. Spend more time here, as this will give you insights to make right choices in the days ahead.

Third, what do you want to accomplish in the next year? Leaders set goals, but how many of us take the time to think through and actually write down our goals. Not just a hap hazard “I want to be rich”, but contemplative, experience driven, path finding motivators that will bring you closer to your desires.

Most important, Take Action! “Talk is cheap”, but winners keep going. They get up again and again even when they are exhausted. They read, spend time with mentors and chase wisdom to gain necessary confidence and direction. They lead by example and help people around them get what they want, which in turn helps them achieve their desires. It’s essential to keep moving forward, as Action is what gets things done.

Will 2025 be your best year yet? Mostly it’s in your hands. Challenges will arise, but how you handle your circumstances is what matters most. Stay focused, be positive and encourage those around you to do the same. This will build and maintain the momentum required to continually succeed for many years to come. Wishing you and your family a truly Happy New Year!

“By recording your dreams and goals on paper, you set in motion the process of becoming the person you most want to be. Put your future in good hands – your own.” - Mark Victor Hansen
